Copland: The Music of America
When it comes to light, folk-flavored listening, the music of Aaron Copland is some of the best and most popular. When it comes to crowd-pleasing conducting, Erich Kunzel is one of the great successes. This album contains most of Copland's essential compositions, in all or part: 'Fanfare for the Common Man,' four movements from 'Rodeo,' 'Quiet City,' 'Billy the Kid,' and 'Appalachian Spring.' All are performed in fine form; it would be ... Regular Price : $17.98

The Best Classical Album in the World... Ever!
This CD is the first thing I ever returned to Amazon. It is an inferior product--selections cut off abruptly before the end, volume fades and returns in the middle of a cut...production values are pure schlock here. Maybe I should have expected as much from such a sophomoric title.

Unfortunately, the volume range on the CD is quite wide, ranging from inaudible to bowel-quaking. In the mix, the orchestra is either at one extreme or the other, but the narration is almost always too quiet to ... Regular Price : $16.98

David Bowie Narrates Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf"
Prokofiev here produces a rare and fresh musical story for children. A young boy decides one day to push the gate at the bottom of the garden and move into the big wild world and its dangers, a wolf and a cat. The boy is followed by his friend the duck and meets his other friend the bird who is saved by a split-hair chance from the teeth of the cat by Peter's cry of alarm. All dangers in ... Autumn Songs: Popular Works for Solo Piano
Irish pianist John O'Conor has eloquent phrasing, and impeccable technique. And this album is proof of that...21 beautiful songs, played as only a pianist of the highest caliber can play them. This album is very highly recommended. You don't have to be a classical connossieur to enjoy it...I most certainly am not. A lot of the pieces are very familiar, and as you hear them, you may find yourself saying 'Oh, I know that song'. This is ... Regular Price : $9.98

Amadeus: The Complete Original Soundtrack Recording
Director Milos Forman's rewarding 1984 film adaptation of playwright Peter Shaffer's Tony-winning play won no fewer than 10 Academy Awards (including Best Film, Best Actor, and Best Director); only Wolfgang himself (and his filmic counterpart, Tom Hulce) seemed to get overlooked by the Academy. This expanded three-disc set contains all of Sir Neville Marriner's crisp, accurate readings of the excerpted Mozart symphonies, concertos, serenades, and operas (including marvelous portions of The Abduction of Seraglio, Don Giovanni, and ... The Magic of Satie
Don't judge this splendid disc by its silly title. Jean-Yves Thibaudet has put together an imaginatively programmed and gorgeously played Erik Satie recital that is certain to acquire reference status alongside the classic Satie recordings by Aldo Ciccolini, his one-time mentor. The difference lies in Decca's far superior sonics, and Thibaudet's warmer, more robust piano sonority. He imbues the music with subtle dynamic gradations and varied articulations that keep Satie's sparse textures vibrant and fresh, without any of the ... Regular Price : $16.98

Dreaming
He has done it again. The Dutch violinist has again brought us a wonderful upbeat CD with some light music and some more classical pieces. Especially check out 'Lost Heroes' which was composed by Andre and his brother to commemorate September 11. The words are by his wife Marjorie and the Dutch soprano Kelly God does a beautiful and sensitive rendition.
The Joy Of Christmas
In this CD re-release of an old LP, all of the performers -- Leonard Bernstein, the NY Phil and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir -- seem to be putting their best foot forward even though this was not standard fare for the NY Phil or Bernstein. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir has long been known for its rich, full tone, but with Bernstein, they are more precise than usual, both musically and textually -- no mush-mouth diction on this recording. ... Tchaikovsky: Nutcracker
Since a small child, I have loved the music from 'The Nutcracker.' This CD does not disappoint, more importantly, it is a good value with all the full body of a professional orchestra, all the many different pieces are performed, and I was flooded with pleasant memories as I listened raptly. I'm glad I bought it. This will be a wonderful addition to anyone's classical music CD library.
